Welcome to Windblume Farms
We're a family-owned farm in Gladwin, Michigan that specializes in specialty dahlias and has a passion for helping grow the monarch population.
What started with a love for dahlias has turned into something much bigger! From strolling through our flower fields and picking your own blooms to shopping our dahlia tubers and plants to grow at home, there's always something happening around here.
We're constantly learning, trying new things, and finding new ways to grow. Whether you're planning a visit to the farm or shopping from miles away, we're glad you're here and excited to share what we're working on next!
Our Tuber Policy
Mark your calendars! Our annual dahlia tuber sale kicks off January 1st, with a second restock around April!
Shipping: We'll begin shipping tubers in late April/early May, working our way through the country by region as freezing temperatures pass. Our goal is to get your tubers to you when it's safe to plant, rather than rushing them out the door while it's still freezing outside!
A Little About Our Growing Practices: We take the health of our dahlias seriously and do everything we reasonably can to minimize the spread of viruses in our field. Any plants showing visible signs of a possible virus are immediately culled. We sanitize our snips and digging forks between every variety and take extra precautions throughout the growing season.
We also love to share our flowers! We welcome small groups into our field to cut and enjoy the dahlias, but we don't take sanitation lightly. Every visitor is educated on the importance of clean tools and is asked to frequently swap their snips for freshly sanitized ones.
While we work hard to maintain a healthy field, we also believe in being transparent: No dahlia grower can guarantee 100% virus-free stock. We do our best, and we'll always be upfront about our practices.
Our Tuber Policy: All tubers are carefully inspected and shipped with at least one visible eye. Our tubers are carefully stored in a temperature-and-humidity-controlled environment until they're ready to head to their new homes. Once tubers leave our care, however, there are simply too many variables we cannot control. Shipping conditions, temperatures, storage after delivery, and growing conditions can all affect a tuber's success. For those reasons, all tuber sales are final, and we do not offer refunds after two days of you receiving your order.
That being said, we're human, and mistakes happen. If you receive an incorrect variety or have other issues with your order, please reach out to us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the issue.
We'll review each situation individually and, when we determine the issue originated with us or during shipping, work toward an appropriate resolution, whether that's a replacement (subject to availability) or a refund for the affected tuber(s).
We put a tremendous amount of time, care, and hard work into growing and storing our dahlias, and we appreciate your understanding and support of our little flower farm.
